"Be a shade vague. (Or if you have the balls, unrepentantly obscure). It allows others to insert their ideas and preoccupations into your work; this is a biz where people love to pull rabbits out of your hat. If you're too clear it makes it a take it or leave it proposition. Be interpretation-friendly."
- Tibor Fischer, The Thought Gang
Personally, I truly agree with this statement. It is wonderful when any one can see something akin to themselves in your own creation. Something universal when, captured would appeal to any other fellow observer on every level of consciousness.
Although the 'Philosophy' part of my jewelry design is me inserting ideas and preoccupations into my own work, I believe the concepts themselves would be appealing universally:
Time Bound - Time, and ultimate questions of humanity of how everything began, why are we here? where are we heading?
Meta Bound - Symbolic Exchange and information in the technology advancing age.
Meta Ratio - Mathematics as the code of nature and a key to aesthetic beauty.
Nausicaa - Nature and its ability to regenerate, new arising from the ashes of the old.
The whole process of my artwork can be summed as:
Energetic causation is from the past to the future, 'mental causation' working backwards from the future.
